I met Zaiden a year ago as a newborn, and that same afternoon his parents and I sat down to discuss their October'08 wedding. Since October I think this little man has grown six inches! He is tall! I've had some great mad faces in the studio recently, but I think Zaidens might just be the best...although every time we saw it he snapped right back into a happy kid.

Zaiden, kudos dude, for being the easiest one year shoot I have ever experienced! Thanks for coming over! It was wonderful seeing you and your parents!

I'm biased, I know, but I love Solon Township Fire. On my way home this afternoon (pics later!) the big rig and the grass truck were crossing Algoma...I follow fire trucks. Fires are H.O.T.

I NEED CHANGE. Must be the weather. *giggle* And since I'm struggling with a new and improved blog (launch hopefully SOON) I decided to pull a 180 here. Everything looks better against black! So I guess you're wondering what my "something's" are....

Since the flooding after Christmas we've (we=my husband) been hard at work remodeling/improving my studio space! Fabulous!!!

Above images you will find 100 year old barn wood, basic backdrops, and red. LOVE. Below is my "something blue" wall. Every girl needs something blue!

For those of you who have been with me for quite some time will notice the upgrades of drywall, flooring, and a more versitile area. What more could a girl ask for?!! What you can not feel here is heat. Yes, HEAT is an upgrade! *giggle* The entire basement will be finished by the end of March allowing for heat to flow freely through our entire house 24/7.

Valentine's Day was spent with Lil Miss Cora and her parents, Andrea + Mike. The last time I saw these two was back in July at Holland State Park. Since then their home has grown by two feet!

And let me tell you. Cora knows what she wants and when she wants it at three months young.*giggle*

Miss Kendall came back into the studio on Saturday afternoon for nine month pictures! It was so great to see how much she's grown and how she is still one of the best natured babies I have ever been around...but hey, she's my girlfriend Dena's little one too...so I should have known Dena would have the perfect little girl. The image above is the exact stage. Kendall is wanting to move so badly, but is stuck. I :heart: stuck!

Cory and Lisa were my very last wedding of 2008. Ceremony at East Paris Christan Reform in Kentwood with their reception at the Radisson at Ann Street. It was an amazing December day, a bit chilly, but the perfect wedding to end the year!

The day started bright and early at To Cher Salon in Grand Rapids with the amazing Rachel for hair + make-up.

Lisa's dress was GORGEOUS!

This dress was meant for a winter wedding. The detailing was breath-taking!

First meeting...something that I absolutely LOVE. Watching a couple meet for the first time before the ceremony or as the bride is walking down the aisle is always an emotional moment.

LOVE the berries!

A-MAZ-ING.

Just looking at these pictures gives me the chills.*giggle*

And the closeness of the very first dance.

365 : frozen hair

This morning as I went to the kitchen sink to start the coffee ritual I looked up and saw this out the window. I dropped what I was doing, grabbed my camera, boots, coat, and out the door I went...wet hair and all. This is straight out of the camera. New camera body met old lens, shot at ISO 200, f16, at 18mm...full frame baby! If you look close at the corners you'll see perfect flare all the way around. My only challenge with this image is the funky flare...but I have gotten past that. It felt good to take two minutes of time to shoot something just for me.=)

I have a prediction...ten months from now there will be a story about how this little man has mastered ripping his diaper off and was caught streaking through the house.

Welcoming a nephew and a cousin. Monday's road trip to the east side of the state with the fun2 was a must. My little brother welcomed a son on Turkey Day. See those squinty little eyes...Rigterink.

Sunday morning before leaving the St. Joe area we met up with Matt and Tracy for their epics! Tracy was a bridesmaid in one of my weddings from August, so it was great seeing her again. Matt, it was great finally meeting you!

These two moved their wedding from June to July due to economic challenges with their original location...something no b&g ever wants to go through. I'm a believer of one door closing and another opening. New location... Mill Creek Barns opening May 2009! w00t!

I found this location months ago and have been dying to use it. Unfortunately, it's 100% poison ivy (both walls + ground). Being I spent eight weeks covered in the stuff last spring I'm not that adventurous.*giggle* Luckily for us, it's November so most of it was dead. See the red on the left wall? So far so good here. Matt?

Saturday, despite the bitter wind and the rain (or was it snow?), Brian and Shaya were HOT. The emotion that overwhelmed the entire day was amazing. Ceremony took place at Zion Church of Christ in Baroda with the party (oops, reception) at Lake Michigan College Mendel Center.

I'm sooooooooo in the mood for black/white....

Happy Birthday Squirrel-bait!

Every mother reflects back on their baby's day of birth. I look back on my daughters birthday as the day she was given life twice. If asked to talk about our experience I tear-up, just thinking about it I tear up. Only now they are tears of overwhelming emotion and happiness. Today is a day I will forever continue to thank strangers who gave their time and donation of blood to the Michigan Community Blood Centers. What did I learn in kindergarten today?
- Not a single child in Tyler's class takes me serious. Why is that? =P
- In kindergarten I learned "letter people" and we took naps. Today they are learning "site words" and reading books such as Go Animals Go. Naps only happen in preschool.
- In kindergarten I learned numbers and how to count. Today we learned that 4+4=8, 5+5=10, and 3+6=9.
- Parachutes can be used for a great game of cat-n-mouse...and all the giggles are a major bonus.

I LOVE my EdenPURE. Got the electric bill and it only went up $40 from the summer months...and best of all...the propane powered furnace has YET to turn on! w00t! Oh yeah, and (plug) they sell them at Plainfield Lumber & Hardware on Plainfield. Just ask for Taco.=)

We had drywall delivered last Friday. Not sure how long mudding takes, but I can't wait for paint! THIS is what my newly remodeled studio looks like today. Bye-bye cement!

The wall with out drywall will be a faux brick and the floors will be wood. Ideas for colors on the other walls is more than welcome!

Today was one of the most romantic experiences I have witnessed all season. Despite waking up to snow, the bitter chill, and the rain that followed, Neil and Nicole were hot. Ceremony took place at Sparta Church of the Nazarene with the reception immediately following at Aquinas College Wege Center. Nicole is a huge fan of sepia. Her plan was to give the effect in even the most colorful of pictures. She succeeded.

This little lady stole my heart.

Yes, I attempted (unsuccessfully) to get the secret honeymoon location out of Neil before leaving. Nicole, I can not wait to hear how he surprised you! I hope it was dry, warm, and amazing! Thank you for allowing us to experience your day!

Rain caused delay on our original schedule over a week ago, so Liz asked if today would work. Of course! What we didn't realize is we were going to take advantage of a 70 degree day!

Adam and Liz are so sweet together. I love learning about how couples work together, their personalities, and how comfortable they are in front of a camera. After a challenging beginning to the week, they were exactly who I needed to spend time with. So easy and relaxed.

Tuesday morning I finally had the opportunity to met Sir Nicholas! I had the pleasure of capturing his mom in her third trimester in August. Is he not just the sweetest? I love my job.

Not only is this little man sweet, but he's also the nosiest little bugger at only four weeks old.*giggle*

When his big brother Nathan came into the studio as a newborn he slept the entire time. Nicholas on the other hand changed his nap schedule just for me and was awake and boppin around. Sorry mom, no sleeping shots!

Monday morning I met up with Paul and Jill for their epics! Having met them back in August at James and Chelsea's wedding I knew it would be a great time....now to get past picture anxiety.*giggle* Not really knowing where they wanted to head, we hit as many locations as we could before dropping from starvation.

Super sweet, they treated me to lunch at their reception venue, Till Midnight. Then the rain became too much to head back out, so we played a bit with the location. If anyone is looking for a venue in Holland, this place is fabulous. The food is excellent, and their menu consists of gourmet dishes along with everything from wine to specialty coffee...yes, I walked out the door with my fave, a caramel latte.

We did get a few looks.*giggle*

Paul...bw, for you babe! It was wonderful getting to know the two of you! I'm so looking forward to June!

September 13, 2008 was a mess. Steve and Lori on the other hand were amazing. An old wives tale states that rain on your wedding day is a sign of luck. If that's the case, then these two are set. As I was leaving their reception I made them an offer...a puddle jump extension. They had planned on downtown pictures between ceremony and reception, the rain took care of that idea along with any other possibilities the entire day due to 24hrs of wetness. Sunday afternoon we made it happen. Lori in her dress, Steve in his tux...curtain call!

Saturday had to have been the most perfect October day possible for John and Elizabeth. The morning started at St. Mary's Church in Spring Lake, followed by pictures in Spring Lake and Grand Haven, and reception at Fruitport Golf Club in Muskegon. It was all very quiet till the ladies arrived, then the tears started flowing, the laughter started, and the days pace picked up a bit!

Grandma entered the room and the tears flowed some more...

On the exit we were off to a park in Spring Lake.

The trip to Temptations in Grand Haven for ice cream was a must. We were also able to then meet up with Elizabeth & Johns pup, Cookie. Cookie always makes an appearance for pictures.

These two took a couple lessons and brought their own twist to the dance floor. LOVE it!

I can't say as though I have ever seen a reception rock out the dance floor quite like Saturday. What a riot! And for the girls...

Today is the beginning of a week spent at Townsend Park in Cannonsburg.

Received an email from Marissa beginning of August. The plan was to surprise the Terrill's with family photos in October. Not only was this scheduled shoot a surprise to Mom and Dad, but also bringing Mandy into Michigan!

Marissa had a goal of getting a few images of her and hubby John as well. What John didn't realize is to what extreme Marissa will go to for fabulous shots. LOVE her, LOVE the fact that John will to though ice cold water, allow this photographer to pretzel him, plus graceful balance, to please his wonderful wife!

Mom and Dad love pictures of people walking away...so we needed this!

Saturday was amazing. The weather could not have been more perfect for Josh and Lori's outdoor ceremony and reception at Whitefish Lake Golf Club in Pierson, MI. The ceremony was emotional. Josh and Lori are such a wonderful couple with such incredible family and friends.

That's not me. I bring a stunt double. I'm tellin ya; Justin doesn't let me get away with much.

Sunday morning started bright and early meeting Toni and Pat downtown Grand Rapids. Over the last couple of months I've gotten to know Toni over the phone and email. It was great to finally meet her and Pat in person!

Today was breath-taking. Jess was a princess. Ryan, so relaxed with a permanent smile. And their family and friends, wonderful.

Ceremony took place at Ada Community Reformed Church in beautiful, historic, Ada, MI with their reception immediately following at the American Legion in Rockford.

And a trip to the historic Ada Covered Bridge was a must.

The emotion between these two is amazing. They are always connected, whether it's Jess rubbing Ryan's back, holding hands, a hand on a knee or their ankles touching. Always connected. Very romantic.

Janine and Jordan...I love you both. Your families and your friends learned just how simply amazing you two are today. Not that they didn't already know that you're both amazing, but there's a new respect. One thing I tend to tell brides when they have their time lines in the works is "the only thing that truly matters at the end of the day is that you both were standing at the alter, vows said, and introduction as Mr. and Mrs." Not that your ceremony starts on time, your dress fits, your vendors show, or you both have rings, but that you were there together.

Ceremony took place at Hudsonville Christian Reform Church in Hudsonville, with reception immediately following at Creekside Greenhouse. This is one wedding I could not wait for this season. After meeting with Janine, and hearing about all of their plans, and that they included a greenhouse...this was one experience I was counting days for!

With the Month of October being recognized as Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month, The Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep Foundation holds its Annual Fund Drive for six weeks starting in mid-September and ending in October. It is our hope that those in a place to make even a small contribution to NILMDTS will consider doing so allowing the organization to provide adequate resources, training, communication and tools necessary in support our amazing contingent of professional photographers who provide the gift of free remembrance portraiture to families in need.

I know, I'm backwards blogging about Sunday before Saturday...but there were soooo many great captures from Saturday that I just could not make up my mind!

There was one point in the day that I over heard the wedding party talking about Ju and Katie celebrating their ten year anniversary. September 20, 2018. At their ten year, they will actually be celebrating twenty years together!

Ceremony took place at Park Congregational Church downtown Grand Rapids with the reception following at the University Club up top the 5/3rd building over looking amazing Grand Rapids.

The day was focused around pictures. Where to go and what to do. And it all took place via horse and carriage. Meet Fred and Charlie!

Like I said...narrowing the day down was a major challenge. So forgive me if the preview is a bit much!

Today was filled with history, friends, and family!

Something I learned today. NEVER stand under emergency lights with a flash in a darkened sanctuary. You will not only set off the emergency lights, but you will also get the attention of every single person in attendance. Rule of thumb...just blame the photographer! *giggle*

My little school girl Tuesday morning. If you go back to the first day of school last year you'll notice she's now taller than the door knob. *giggle* My child!

"Mom! Get a picture of my nose!" Again, my child.

And that front door shot I wanted Tyler's first day...and a bit more silliness!

Why does she refuse barrettes? Yeah, my child.

After school Nyla told me about lunch, recess, seeing Tyler on the playground (Ty ran away from her), going to the motor room, her new friends Logan and Kirsten (I hope these are kids she met.lol), snack time, their 15 minute sleep time, she likes her new teacher, and that she's still to short to get on the toilet all by herself.

What did Tyler tell me? He can't remember what he did, but he didn't get a green, yellow, or red light (these are in-trouble colors).

Saturday was crazy! Lori and Steve are amazing. The weather posed some challenges for planned outdoor pictures, but it didn't dampen the festivities!

Ceremony took place at Grand Valley State University at the Cook-DeWitt Center. It's been awhile since I've been out there and forgot how long that walk (in the rain carrying equipment) was from the parking lots...still the same, as beautiful as ever! Reception followed at The Bluffs in Grand Rapids.

I love this dress all the way around. After getting it hung I couldn't figure out why areas were not lining up; then found out they weren't supposed to! Very unique rousing. (Did I say that right?)

Touch-ups are always necessary before walking down the aisle... when you're the flower girl!

Beautiful. I love the simplicity of this chapel. Even on dark days the light is amazing.

These two. It was a given there would be some laughter during the ceremony.

After the ceremony we grabbed umbrellas and took a short walk over to the Student Services Center.

One of my favorite parts of the day is the first dance. It's when they are the only two people in the room and they can focus 100% on each other.

Just a reminder about what we discussed before I left...we'll just call it a "puddle jump" extension!

Thank you for such a wonderful day! I hope you were able to enjoy the rest of your weekend before heading back to the grind. I can't wait to hear about your honeymoon later this fall!

Wednesday evening I met up with Lisa and Corey for their epics in Grand Haven! We could not have asked for more amazing weather. Starting in town then finishing at the beach. You can tell it's nearing the end of summer when it brings EVERYONE out to take advantage of the perfect sunset.

Naturals in front of the camera? Most definitely!

And pass-up a red wall...NEVER! Lisa's hair looked fabulous to begin with, but this red pushed fabulous over the top!

Sunday morning I met up with Alicia & Stephen in Holland at Tunnel Park. They are too sweet and so cute together. Their wedding will be June of 2009 in Grand Rapids!

With as much as I wanted the traditional shot of Tyler standing on our front steps this morning he choose to pose by the car instead. "Duh, mom....you can not take your camera into the rain. Even I know that." So here's my capture.*giggle* My boy. The BIG kindergartner.

Nyla after a couple of squirrely moves around her brother, goofy kisses, and a good dose of stink-eye, finally smiled for me. What a mess these two are together. Their mine. ALL mine.

This picture was taken only seconds after the one above. I had to tell Miss Bitty that she wouldn't be starting preschool for another 12 days. She counted to twelve and then realized how long it took her to get to 12. We'll be getting first day pictures of her on the 16th! w00t!

I thought it was going to be hard leaving Ty this morning...he's my first baby. Nope, it was just the opposite. Maybe I do better sending them one at a time? He was so excited. Walked into the room, said good morning to his teacher, put his backpack away (with out being told), grabbed his name tag, walked over to the rug, stuck is right arm in the air and began a game of 20 questions. When picking him up I asked the teacher how he did. His reply "Tyler will be a great leader for me this year. He's also going to keep me on my toes." Yep! That's MY boy!

What did Nyla and I do from 8:45 till 3:26? What us girls do best...shop!

{08.31.2008} Congratulations Bill & Gennel!

When I arrived at Gennel and Bill's home on Sunday afternoon I was greeted with this sign. Lulani is their beautiful daughter who just came home from the hospital a week ago. I would have paid double the asking price to see Lulani, but she's not taking visitors till later this year due to being a preemie. As for photo's...I've got nothin. ::sniff sniff:: But I did get to briefly see her through the front window!

Gennel and Bill have quite the story. I met with Gennel to talk about wedding plans earlier this year. She was in the midst of planning this amazing wedding for August 31, 2008. Hall was booked, dress was purchased, etc. To then find out about three weeks later they were expecting, and not only expecting, but saving their little one. Their vows were exchanged at Bronson in Kalamazoo back in May. How many people can say they got married at a hospital?lol Lulani was born early. To go along with keeping with the celebration of August 31, Bill and Gennel were watching their little girl grow stronger every day, searching for, buying, and moving into their first home. These two are amazing, and their daughter alone is proof.

Ceremony and reception location was Pebblewood Golf Course in Bridgman, MI. Walking into the entertainment room there brought back some great memories from my teen years. Forever ago they hosted a teen dance night every Sunday. It was the place to be. Okay, now that I've aged myself...*giggle*

I love the wording they choose on their gifts. Sharing. This celebration was geared more around all of their neices and nephews. It was their day for family.

Bill was an absolute nut during the ceremony, and just never stopped. Seriously, look at how tiny Gennel is!

After meeting Kim and David for their Christmas Eve epic session last year I could not wait to see them again! It was FRIGID the day we were out, and then this past Saturday we were battling the heat. A perfect 180!

The day started at Philip Anthony Salon. As we were leaving the girls loaded up into an RV! With most everyone being from out of town they needed transportation. Who needs a limo anyways? And yes, I was watching the road, putting lipstick on, phone to my ear, finishing my coffee, and flipping through the latest Parenting magazine... You're now wishing you were that guy behind me right? *giggle*

Kim's dress was beyond beautiful.

The ceremony took place at Parish of the Holy Spirit in Grand Rapids with the reception following at Amway Grand Plaza, Pantlind Room. The entire day was wonderful!

The holiday weekend is here and so is the end of August! This month feels like the never ending month...it just keeps going and going and going and going! *giggles* So far I have experienced five fabulous August weddings. This weekend will make seven! Sunday evening at 10pm I belong to my family. No phone, no cell phone, no internet, no computer...they MIGHT let me have my camera...that's still up for discussion. Not certain how I will survive (it's kinda like air...I need them!), but I will be back to voice mail, emails, and blogging Tuesday!

There is also some amazing changes taking place with LVL Photography. Just a hint...for those of you needing studio work (yelling out to my holiday babies!), my calendar is open (CALL ME!), you're gonna love it!

Saturday morning was spent with Kendall and her parents at their home. If you are one to keep up with my blog you would have read about pre-Kendall, pictures HERE, and then the day she was born HERE. Is she not her mommas girl?

Look at those rolls! I so love chubby babies! And can you believe she was not happy unless she was sitting up? At THREE months! Silly girl. I can't wait to watch her move at six months!

We had to get a few pictures of Tessie with her new baby too. You would think they snuggled like this all the time. (Still loving those rolls!)

Miss K, I can't wait to see you again at six months...but you can come by and play any time!

Saturday was spent at a private residence right on Lake Cadillac. It was a perfect day, spent at the perfect location, with the perfect couple. Josh had contacted me last summer about their wedding...I was, to say the least, impressed. The goal for the day was to keep it as simple and relaxed as possible bringing in their favorite things to share with their family and friends. Kelly's boss and his family hosted the event. There are no words to describe this house. Unbelievable maybe? Everything revolved around comfort from how the whole day played out to the food and entertainment.

Ahhh...Friday. With as crazy as this past weekend could have been, I managed to spend it with possibly the two most relaxed weddings scheduled this entire season. Less than two weeks ago I spent a Sunday morning with Lance and Jamie for their last minute engagement pictures. Normally months go by, so it was great seeing them twice in less than two weeks!

Lance and Jamie are the type of couple you feel like you've known your whole life after spending just minutes with them.

The Round Barn Winery in Baroda, MI is stunning. The ceremony site is beautifly simple with greenery everywhere. The reception area, for smaller parties, is rustic, simple, and amazing.

Quite possibly my favorite moment of the day. I love the first kiss...but check out the backdrop I was handed to go along with this capture!

The coordinator at RBW was shocked we headed towards the winery graveyard for party pictures. I LOVE it!

Jamie's ring was to die for. Seriously breath-taking.
And to show, yes...this image is straight out of the camera. It's a bummer the Round Barn Winery is no longer entertaining receptions for 2009.

Jamie and Lance, Thank you. Friday was, in one word, wonderful. Can't wait to hear about your exploration of Maine!

Sunday morning I met up with Brian and Shaya at their home on Totzke Farms in Stevensville bright and early on my way home from the double wedding weekend. There are so many new areas I have had the opportunity to venture into lately...and I LOVE it!

It was great seeing these two. Brian and I graduated high school together, and have not seen each other since. And I met Shaya years ago through my little brother. Shaya will soon be the farmers wife. hehe

Exactly one year ago to the weekend I met with James and Chelsea to talk about their wedding on a Sunday evening. What I didn't realize at the time was how much time I would be spending with them over the next year. *giggles* In September we did their first set of epics the morning the Tri-State Sailing Regatta left the St. Joseph harbor. Then in November they decided that a road trip up to Cedar Springs to see me was a must. w00t! In April I sat down with them for coffee downtown St. Joseph to talk about all of their planning...everything was coming together! I could not wait for August! The end of June I received an invite to their wedding. As many weddings as I have done, I have never once received an invite. How sweet!

08.08.2008...it was right up there with 06.07.2008 for this busy wedding season!

Friday was amazing. I met Christina and Eric for the epics back in April and fell in love with them. They gave me one more reason to look forward to August!

The ceremony took place at Central Park Church in Holland. The weather could not have been more beautiful! Reception immediately followed at the Alpen Rose downtown Holland after Eric and Christina made a quick stop at their favorite coffeehouse, JP's. Aletha from Pearls Events was there for day-of coordination. All of the amazing details can be found at Aletha's BLOG.

Before heading out of St. Joe on August 3rd I had one last session...the Zandarksi family.

Liz and Paul came in from Ft. Wayne to have their daughter Hanna's 18mth pictures done and to have a few family photos before welcoming a new baby into their family this fall.

This family is very near and dear to my heart. Paul and Liz's wedding was my very first "full-service" wedding. They then called when Hanna was only days old to have newborn pictures done...and now Miss Hannah is 18 months old!

I wish we would have had more time! I can wait to see your growing family again this fall!

Sunday morning, bright and early, I met up with Lance and Jamie for engagement pictures. Instead of starting at 8am, I'm going to start at 9:45 and work our morning backwards...

I have been waiting to get a couple downtown Benton Harbor for months. Lance has this thing about the front of the old bank (it's amazing!) and I got to play in the street! w00t!

And then of course we need to run, only what I wasn't expecting is Jamie to leap into Lance's arms. LOVE it!

Saturday was fabulous. St. Joseph truly is the city of romance. The atmosphere, the beach, the waves, the city, the people.

When I first met with Chelsea the plan was to not see Josh before the ceremony. A few weeks ago they changed their mind so they could do most all of their pictures before the ceremony. But where to have their first meet? The Margaret Upton Arboretum of course! I just love Josh's smile...

Friday morning started the weekend with the kids of the Veenstra girls. We tossed in some family pictures, but the main goal was to capture these gorgeous cousins!

Dylan just turned one. Such sweet bitterness. I've seen him every three months for the last year. I have watched him grow from a chubby infant to a little man. He's still sporting the creases, but I only give those about six months. I love chubby babies.

Then Austin and his mom, Lisa, arrived. Austin at the old age of seven is the senior of the group. He's way to sweet to teach his younger cousins any new tricks. Don't those eyes look like trouble?

Then Tommy and Allison arrived with their parents, Lisa and Tom. Tommy is such a doll. When I ask Allison how old she was her reply was "free." I LOVE three!

And last but not least...bringing all three girls and their kids together.

When there is no movement in the blog, you've got to know that there's processing going on!

To go along with three incredible shoots this weekend I captured one fabulous wedding! I love St. Joseph. LOVE St. Joseph. It's the lake shores city of romance right? I've got the meet, the hugs, the almost kiss...don't you just LOVE that "almost kiss?" Grand Rapids has been pretty well trained to watch for photographers in the street...I'm working on breaking in Berrien County. Yep, that's right...I'm headed back there three more times this month!

August game plan: Holland, St. Joseph, Baroda, Cadillac, Grand Rapids, and Bridgman! Hey, a girls gotta stay close to home once right?

A handful of months ago Amanda emailed me about her and Keith's wedding in October. Because I was already booked for their date I had to refer her out. Even though they had their epics done by their photographer, they still decided to join Andrea and Natalie's picture party at Holland State Park. w00t!

Suzanne and Tai (aka Happy) were familiar faces when they arrived for their morning pictures. They attended Andrea and Mike's wedding! I remember that table carrying Nikon gear...even though they didn't have the Nikon camera's, they still get points for having smart friends!

I was told to pose them, and then realized there was no reason to pose these two...tweak yes, but they are very comfortable with the camera. LOVE that!

It was wonderful "officially" meeting you two!

Mike and Andrea are so adorable. Andrea's laugh is infectious, and Mike's shyness and how quickly he blushes is great. After doing their epics last fall, wedding in November, and now capturing them as their family is about to grow...19 more weeks!!!!...is priceless.

I won't even go into how Mike glowed looking at Andrea on their wedding day. And how that look has changed and is more intense now that they will be welcoming baby D in November.

Ooops...guess I just did!

Up till five months ago I planned on spending Saturday with a beautiful bride I met last September, but life happened and my day was free. Spent it thinkin about my gal instead and processing images.

Sunday was another story!

Last winter my lovely bride, Andrea, and her girlfriend Natalie asked about putting together a "photo party" on the beach in Holland for sometime in July. Was I interested? OF COURSE! The weather looked pretty scary, but once again came through for five families! Natalie's family was my 9:20. Here she is with her guys!

The best pictures can be taken from the water. And yes, for those of you who just shivered, Lake Michigan was perfect!

I'll be posting a few images from each family/couple/kid session that took place, in the order of scheduled times, each day this week. So stay tuned!

I need to first say THANK YOU to my happily married couples from this past weekend for your patience and understanding on delayed blog posts. Love you!

Saturday morning waking up to storms was not in my plan. The threat of storms again at 4:30 and 6pm didn't make for great nerves when your outdoor ceremony is scheduled for 4pm, pictures starting around five, and reception at seven. All pictures were during the threat. YIKES! Luckily, NOTHING happened!!!! Let me just give you a little taste of what 6:30 looked like...yes, I'm a tease!

And now back to the days flow...hehe

Kirsten and Eric are amazing. Met Kirsten for the first time a few weeks ago, met Eric Saturday morning. I felt like I had known them and their wedding party for years. The day started downtown at the Amway Grand Plaza.

Chandon champaign. The taste of almond. A great way to start the days celebration!

Arrival. Ceremony. One last look...

The ceremony was so relaxed and personal. Location, Townsend Park in Cannonsburg at the outdoor pavilion. One of my most favorite places. No decorations needed. Simple beauty.

Madison is the most mature eight year old I have ever met. With as tired as Miss Madison was due to pre-wedding events, she was fabulous.

The creation of a second family this past weekend...

Then back downtown for a few more pictures and reception at The Photography Room.

No wedding day is complete till you bust out that second dress! I hope the rest of your evening was a blast!

Friday afternoon was in one word...perfect. Watching a couple become life partners is fabulous, but witnessing the creation of a new family is amazing.

The day started Henry and Annette's new home. I love personalizing details, so this one I couldn't over-look. After using this little dish as a prop I was told it was a recent gift from Annette's kids, Katie and Jonathan. So sweet.

Another lady that wears a size 5 shoe. Someone else shares my shopping pain!lol

Henry and Annette pledged their lives as one at Trinity United Reformed Church in Caledonia on Friday evening. After the bridal party entered the sanctuary, Annette entered...on the arm of her son, Jonathan. I tear-up at every ceremony, but Jonathan giving his mother away was so touching.

The reception took place at Pine Rest's new Postema Center. On the sign it says "for worship and education." The place is beautiful. The colors, the entrance, and the landscaping.

Annette and Henry...you both are so incredibly wonderful. Thank you. I wish you both nothing but the best.

Crazy days ahead!

This evening Annette and Henry will be saying their vows in front of their family and friends at Trinity United Reform in Grand Rapids. Saturday morning the celebration will begin for Kirsten & Eric as they begin their lives together.

After Saturday nights events are over I will be on my way to Georgia for a family emergency, returning mid week. All emails and voice mails will be returned no later than Friday along with blog posts to catch-up from this weekend.

{07.05.2008} Congratulations Danny & Kendra!

There is something about high school sweethearts. This something is so incredibly special. They are able to be care-free kids, school, graduation, and then the fun that comes with being an adult together. Dan and Kendra have been together for thirteen years, yet are just in their twenties!

The day started in Big Rapids...straight business. Hair, make-up, dress, champaign...the necessities of a wedding day. We ventured over to the same park that their epics were taken at and then located a couple of fun old buildings before heading to Kendra's parents house (aka ceremony and reception site).

The above image is one of my favorites of the day. See Dan, absolutely fabulous!

The ceremony was in the backyard. The trellis has been there for years, but I'm still not remembering it from our session in December. Three sides were set-up for their guests with the bridal party in a "V" formation on the back. Very unique, and very much breath-taking.

After the bestman and maid-of-honors toast Kendra had a few words. One question she kept being asked during the planning process is "why at your parents house?" The reason, all the memories. The first kiss in the yellow mustang in the driveway (next to the tent), along with many others. Why wouldn't they celebrate the beginning of their new life where their relationship started?

Risk #47 for 2008...being in Kendra and Dan's path as they rush through the arms of their bridal party. Shot with my 50mm...yes, I was a bit too close for comfort.=)

On the hunt for a dirt road in Big Rapids...found!

How fabulous it is to have underground electric and cable. Something I take for granted till it's gone. Luckily, Solon Township didn't have any wires down, unlike other areas of Grand Rapids, and other than the kids I had no interruptions. I was able to sit and process wedding pictures, upload to a proof gallery, and listen to my kids fight over what movie to watch or what video game to play.

This image was taken around 2:30 just before the storm hit our area. The radar said it wasn't too close to us, but I snapped two shots and was running for the house. Looking past the blooming/drying quack grass...isn't the color fabulous?! I LOVE crazy skies, thunder, lightening, and sitting in the front window with my kids watching the storm roll in.

Saturday morning Justin and I were off to St. Ives Resort in Stanwood, MI to capture Matt and Jenny's big day. Weather was perfect, rain wasn't supposed to move in till dinner time, and Jenny and Matt were fabulous!

Matt and Jenny's first meeting. They originally did not want to see each other before the ceremony, but changed their mind a few weeks before to be able to spend time with their family and friends after the ceremony.

The closeness of this wedding party was amazing. Entertainment is always appreciated! *giggles*

And the day started with a BANG!

Just kidding! It was great watching Lisa choose from the "I do" and "I don't" gift from Greg to open pre-ceremony. She of course choose the "I do" gift, but was told she could open the other as well. And how creative to place an antique (disabled!) grenade in the other box.

The day started at the fabulous farm house Lisa grew-up in...although newly remodeled. This house, built in 1936, was amazing. Even though it was updated, it still had the antique feel without the previously updated 1970's style.

Greg remembers meeting Lisa for the first time at age five in Lisa's backyard near one of their many barns. So guess where we started...

Greg and Lisa said their vows at the Sherman Lake YMCA outdoor chapel on Friday evening. Just before their big kiss a storm, that was not on the radar before we left the main building, came in and it poured. Umbrella's went up and anyone stuck in the rain was running for the ivy covered trellis.

Since the rain put a damper on outdoor shots at Sherman Lake, and of course the rain stopped after we were packed up to head to The Fountains for the reception, Justin and I took these fabulous newlyweds over to an abandoned plant across from the hall for a few urban shots. This would be an incredible location to rock out a trash the dress session.

Ask Greg...I know how to make a man smile. *giggles*

Jarrett came into the studio on Tuesday for his one year pictures. This little man should not be one yet! Seriously! Jarrett brought his mom, both sisters, his grandma, a tractor, a several clothing changes, a baseball chair, lots of new tricks, and a balloon...of which I still have!

Jarrett's real birthday was on Wednesday, June 25. Happy Birthday little man!

Yes, we all need time off. And once the wedding planning for 2008 began, I choose this past weekend to be my break for June. The Grand Rapids Flickr group planned their annual picnic for Saturday morning, and the Grand Rapids Camera Club pulled together a biker shoot for Saturday evening with Resurrection Life Church in Rockford. Camera still in hand, smiles on faces, and my kids by my side!

Captured before the bikes hit the road and to pray for a friend who was in an accident Friday.

Brent and Jami were married on Saturday in Lakeview at Brent's parents gorgeous home overlooking the lake in their backyard. Being that they were at home everything seemed to be more relaxed which was wonderful and the weather could not have been more perfect.

I love bringing my laptop to meetings because it allows to show an entire wedding, but at the same time I needed an album...I'll admit, the only thing I had prior was a standard proof album. Saturday was fabulous! Despite the threat of more storms, the rain held off long enough for pictures, ceremony, more pictures, and everyone to arrive at the reception. THAT in my opinion was fabulous!

Justin and Sarah pledged their love in front of hundreds of their closest friends and family at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Caledonia with their reception following at Centennial Country Club in Cascade.

Every detail about Justin and Sarah's day was elegant, beautiful, and fabulous with bold color.

This mornings storms brought on a fun show. Kids decided it was a "pajama day." I never complain about pajama day...well, till they decided to head out to play when one of my lovely July brides stopped by to chat about her day-of game plan. My husband's children took it upon themselves to have a little fun when mom was busy. Two brand new sets of pj's, trashed.

I'm not a fan of mud. Nyla is.
