Congratulations Chris & Sara!

Chris and Sara were married at Vergennes United Methodist in Lowell. Simple and beautiful. Reception followed at Townsend Park at the enclosed pavilion. Such a cozy atmosphere. Light from the fireplace, candle light, and white lights...very romantic. Thank you for making me a part of your day.

Enjoy your honeymoon in the mountains!

Senior: Zak

I never should have said I was taking the weekend off. Friday's weather at 80% rain pushed my senior shoot with Zak into Saturday morning. Everything was perfect. Location was his backyard and the weekend at peak color.

10.18.2007: October Storms

I LOVE storms! I love the light flash, the cracks, the power flickering on and off (and LOVE when it comes back on), and the unexpected. To the west of our home is the best. There is always something crazy going on. The sky rarely looks the same to the east. After getting the kids to bed (or thought I had the kids to bed) I grabbed my equipment and headed outside. Shot two images and it started pouring. Both umbrellas found the black hole in our house so I was running for the door. Yup, got my shot!

10.18.2007: Busy, busy, busy...

Thursday morning I had an appointment with Camden at Townsend Park. The weather did not cooperate, raining the entire time we had scheduled and mom was set on fall color. The alternative time was for Sunday, but the sun came out and after his afternoon nap we were ready to run! Yes, RUN was the key word! Camden is one curious, busy little man!

Congratulations Chad & Lindsy!

Saturday's ceremony did not leave a dry eye in the church. Chad's passion for Lindsy is amazing and he definitely wore his heart on his sleeve for their family and friends to witness. Ceremony was at New Community Church with reception at the Casino Club in Grand Rapids.

This bridal party was a lot of fun, although pictures after the ceremony was the last on their minds. They had priorities...there's not a single picture to show those!

Oh, and if Lindsy's dress has one little spot of dirt on it I would be shocked!lol This not so girly-girl became quite girly on her wedding day!

e-pics: John & Elizabeth

After waiting out the rain for a bit this morning pictures were on! Riverside park was a new location for me, and Elizabeth and John had our walk and a few poses already picked out. Even though she had not been feeling very well for the last couple of days they were skipping, hanging up side down, riding piggy-back, jumping from swings, and laying on the wet ground.

369 days to go!

10.14.2007: Fallasburg Park ~ Lowell, MI

This afternoon a few of us from the Grand Rapids Camera Club and Grand Rapids Flickr group met up at the Fallasburg Park covered bridge in Lowell. Okay, meet-up makes it sound like we were there for awhile. It POURED. Visit, quick shot, and back on the road.

e-pics: Mike & Andrea

I met Mike and Andrea out at Holland State Park this evening for their engagement pictures, bringing them back to where Mike proposed. When Andrea and I met months ago about their wedding Mike was living in Texas and the plan was for Andrea to move down there after the wedding. Mike changed is mind as is now back in Grand Rapids. You could tell tonight how excited Andrea is to have him back within arms reach.

Looking forward to your wedding you two! Congrats!

Post-Wedding or Pre-Honeymoon?

What to call these pictures? Ken and Ali were married on Mackinaw Island less than a week ago. We were unable to get to their engagement pictures before the wedding, but they still wanted some casual photos done. I love how you get these two out of wedding attire and they start tossing each other around. Enjoy your honeymoon!!!

10.07.2007: Cadillac

The purpose of last weekend was the Rivette/Coleman wedding on Mackinaw Island. The color was amazing up north, but not my focus. Coming into Cadillac on Sunday morning on our way home I noticed an old broken down barn in the middle of a field that I needed to get closer to. The best angle was the farthest from the road in flip-flops through black dirt.

Autumn is my absolute favorite season. I'm looking forward to getting out this weekend to do more of a color tour with friends, so take this as a warm up for whats soon to come... YAY!

First comes love...

I would like to introduce Jacob, he's the new addition to the Shepard/Gordon family. He wore him self out with curiosity in the studio tonight. I seriously do not think he missed anything. At nine weeks old, he is one nosy little man.
I know dude, your mom put you in that tie and hat...but I LOVE it.
The last time I saw Will and Sara was when we sat down to discuss the opportunity of their wedding this past summer. It was great to see them as a family tonight. Such incredible parents.

Looking forward to November!

Angel Dylan

The sweetness of newborns is priceless. Dylan brought his mom into the studio last week for his first pictures. Grandma has pictures of all of her grandchildren with wings as newborns, so we followed suit with Master Dylan.

Hugs big guy! It was wonderful meeting you and your mom!

Congratulations Ken & Ali!

This weekend was incredible! Location was the Little Stone Church with reception at The Inn at Stonecliffe on Mackinaw Island. Ali, Ken and their families are amazing. The day started with rain, took a break during pictures at noon, continued during the ceremony, and stopped shortly after for remaining pictures around the Grand Hotel and for the reception. The weather could not have treated us any better than it did. Thank you for allowing us to experience your fairytale!
